On October 16th, at the German SAP User Group (DSAG) Annual Conference, SAP announced the initial rollout of the S/4 HANA Adoption Starter Engagement. This was initially for German customers and has been rapidly followed by an English language version. The engagement’s aim is to provide customers with clear guidance and support as they begin designing their move to SAP S/4HANA.
In case you are tempted to dismiss this as more sales hype from SAP, let me explain why this 90 day, S/4 HANA initiative is different and worth considering:
The engagement uses a methodology, that combines a virtual classroom with self-guided steps to help customers structure and assess their transformation. It also includes the following:
The result is a transformation plan that covers business, technical, and transformation views. In fact, there are currently more than 20 German users on the initial rollout.
Here’s what Elring Klinger, an automotive supplier headquartered in Germany, has to say about the SAP S/4HANA Adoption Starter Engagement: “We looked for answers to the questions how are we positioned and what do we have to do to introduce SAP S/4HANA. Answers were given by the pilot project SAP S/4HANA Adoption Starter Engagement. The analysis of the current system landscape with the tools was very helpful. We prepared a basic decision document that was interesting for the entire IT department. Furthermore, the project has enabled us to align our long-term corporate strategy with the future ERP strategy.”
TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG, has the following to say: “SAP S/4HANA Adoption Starter Engagement a good way to do a structured and guided pre-study for analyzing where your company stands and how a possible transformation path to SAP S/4HANA could look. With the right staffing in the engagement, it is possible to create an SAP S/4HANA awareness among the business departments as well as on top management level. SAP S/4HANA Adoption Starter Engagement can serve as a trigger for further in-house activities toward SAP S/4HANA.”
