The new Business Intelligence System at Electrolux enables a more efficient planning processes. Electrolux and KPS worked together to roll out the central SAP BPC planning tool in 32 countries.
Pressrelease from KPS:
Faster processing times, improved data quality and more flexible workflows
Munich, January 31.03.2015 – In today’s retail trade, using up-to-the-minute metrics to accelerate decision-making is a critical success factor. But at Electrolux it was taking as long as three to five person days to compile forecast reports. In an effort to optimize its old, fragmented IT landscape, the planning and forecasting processes for all of its European offices were transferred to SAP® ERP and SAP® Business Planning and Consolidation (SAP BPC). KPS Consulting was charged with implementing all of the planning processes and KPIs in the new SAP system.
According to a global survey, almost two-thirds of corporate decision-makers agree that big data has changed how they make decisions and will continue to have a major impact into the future (Source: PWC Study: “Big decisions”, 2014). That means fast access to reports on up-to-date, relevant metrics can make the difference between success and failure for companies today. This fact was not lost on Swedish household appliance giant Electrolux. Because of an outmoded, fragmented IT landscape, its planning processes for finance and forecasting were time-consuming and complex. So the company invested in a new SAP-based IT system, partnering with KPS Consulting to integrate the Business Intelligence platform and update the Business Warehouse solution.
Implementation model increases staff buy-in
Electrolux staff and KPS experts worked together to successfully roll out the central SAP BPC planning tool in 32 countries. “Having faster processing times, improvements in data quality and more flexibility in workflow and process design translates into benefits for the Electrolux Group as a whole, but also for individual management accountants in each country organization,” explains Peter Messetter, Head of Finance Solutions at Electrolux. Now, it only takes four to eight hours – instead of several days – to consolidate the relevant data and transfer it into a monthly planning report with the latest forecasts. Messetter: “KPS’ Rapid Transformation® method is radically different from other implementation methods. By involving our staff in the project at a very early stage, we were not only able to achieve fast, effective implementation, but also a significant reduction in project risk.”
With the new Business Intelligence platform, Electrolux is already reaping the rewards of faster, easier-to-navigate and end-to-end forecasting processes and reports. The increase in response times and data quality means the company is better positioned to react to future market developments.
