The business environment of today has an increasing demand for good, exact and fast decision support systems.

The delivery of KPI, reports and analytic tool to right time, process and person is crucial for strategic, tactical or operational decisions.

BI-solutions that fulfil the requirements to functionality, flexibility and usability are a good investment.
Still the question often falls down to what kind op approach the enterprise shall use when BI-choices are to be taken, and there is of course more that one way down the road.

The presentation will pin-point some interesting "roads", like anchoring to strategy and how process models like SCOR or strategy- and decision support models can help you on your road to BI-success. Some of the challenges to these approaches will also be discussed. Some general advices, tips and ideas to metric structures and the relation between process metric and financial values will round up the presentation.

Det er min erfaring att SAP BI projekter har nytt av en målrettet og formuleret data warehouse arkitektur, vilket jag här belyser.

Excel as User Interface in combination with visual basic for BW
Yara uses Excel which users recognize as user interface for BW, they use pivot tables and Excels filtering functionality. Christian Rakvaag explains how Yara with visual basic in BEx workbooks built the user interface. The presentation contains some basics about VBA- syntax and objects related to SAP BEx.
He will explain who to improve layout in standard BEx- rapports, and how to filter information and send it by e-mail. Yara has created a Excel-based ”mini portal” i BEx with links to reports and report descriptions. Christian will touch:

1. Basic about VBA i BEx
2. Preparation of standard - rapports and filters + e-mail "bursting" (not to difficult)
3. Analytic reports with pivot tables (rather complex)
4. The Mini portal
